Are you tired of spending all your hard-earned cash on expensive marketing strategies that don’t seem to be working? Do you feel like you’re shouting into the void and nobody is listening? Well, my friend, it’s time to put down the megaphone and pick up email marketing. Yes, you heard me right. An email list. I know what you’re thinking. “Email? That’s so 2005.” But trust me, email is making a comeback. It’s like that pair of neon spandex leggings you hid away in the back of your closet – you never thought you’d wear them again, but here we are.
Start Your List
Don’t sleep on it. Start it. Get yourself an account at ConvertKit (using my referral code (Thank you so much) ) or your preferred list provider and let’s get this ball rolling. Your list is a collection of email addresses that were given to you by people who for one reason or another are interested in what you have to offer them. This isn’t door to door marketing. These are people who agreed to be marketed to.
At ConvertKit you can easily create a landing page to collect signups to your list. They have templates you can customize, or I would be glad to offer you my services getting you up and running and trained.
How to Get Leads
One popular method of getting people to sign up for your list is called a Lead Magnet. This is where you create some sort of downloadable document that you agree to deliver to the user after they sign up. This could be a pdf guide on how to weave a basket under water or a checklist of 5 things to do if you think you are being followed. Again, with ConvertKit this is easy to set up. They have a spot where you can upload the file to be used as your lead magnet. Aside from offering an on-demand freebie you can simply mention how often you will email them with information of interest to them. Once you have your landing pages setup to collect the email addresses, you then direct people to those pages via posts on your website and social media. It’s not rocket science to set up. The hard part is to craft an appealing appeal to get the user to want to click through to your landing page and become a lead.
Other Features of a List
With an email list, you get to engage with your customers on a whole new level. You can personalize your marketing messages and make them feel like you’re speaking directly to them. It’s like being a psychic, but without all the weird crystals and tarot cards. And let’s not forget about the data, baby. With an email list, you can track everything from who opened your emails to who clicked on your links to who bought your stuff. It’s like playing detective, but without the fedora and trench coat.
Broadcasts, Sequences, & Automations - Oh My!
With your established list you can send out an email broadcast at will, when you feel so moved. You can also set up an automation to have a series of emails known as a sequence sent out to your entire list or a segment of that list at predetermined intervals. One example is a welcome sequence. When someone signs up for your list they can be put into a welcome sequence that may consist of an email sent immediately welcoming them to the list. Then maybe 2 days later they get the 2nd sequenced email which tells them more about you. Then maybe 1 day after that they get a 3rd email inviting them to sign up for a course or service that you have at a special new list member rate. The possibilities are endless.
Off You Go Now
By sending regular emails to your customers, you can build relationships with them and keep them coming back for more. It’s like having a bunch of loyal minions who will do your bidding (in a non-evil way, of course). So what are you waiting for? It’s time to embrace email like it’s 2005 all over again. Start building your email list today and watch your business soar to new heights.
